Spiral Groove Technology
The core of Zimmer shock absorbers is the spiral groove as damping principle. At the shock absorber Power Stop the exhausting channel (throttle) is directly incorporated into the piston compared to the conventional shock absorber.
Because of the continious conicitiy (spiral groove) of the piston there is a dynamic force over the total stroke and a maximum energy consumption at minimum power. By the spiral groove a lubricating film in form of a classical hydrostatic slide bearing is built up between the piston and high-pressure bushing.
The technological improvement is evident – and the advantages as well: smooth braking without sudden cross section constrictions, higher power consumption by maximum of capacity use in each piston position, individual manual adjustment for each matter of application, compact construction space by substancial higher energy consumption, minimum abrasion rates by optimal bearing, assembly in pneumatic pressure camber possible and higher operation safety and longer service life by oil reserve.

Component cleaning that generates value
The technical cleanness of components, their functional surfaces and the production environment is absolutely essential for the manufacture of high-quality products. Owing to the fact that system components are becoming smaller and smaller and technically more complex, the expense involved in cleaning processes is rising steadily.
Residual dirt on components not only affects the functionality of technical systems but also increases the volume of rejected samples. This means that a tailor-made and reliable component cleaning system can contribute significantly to the cost-efficiency of the production process. Economic criteria, alongside increased environmental awareness and correspondingly strict environmental legislation, thus call for the efficient deployment of existing cleaning techniques or the development of new alternatives.
The Fraunhofer Network for Cleaning Technology is pursuing various ideas, concepts and possible solutions aimed at combining and harmonizing cleaning and production as a single entity. Efficient and environmentally friendly for example is dry-ice blasting: It does not generate any blasting media residues that will require additional disposal.
