Bevel gear wheel of the latest generation with high power density

Material handling machines have to fulfill higher and higher expectation concerning performance and efficiency.

A key role is the ongoing development of propulsion systems. ABM Greiffenberger has now developed a new generation of bevel gear wheels for mobile appliances, which are characterized by elevated torque, highly increased running smoothness and furthermore increased durability.

ABM Greiffenberger is present in many material handling machines with the ongoing range of TDB254 for wheel diameters of 254 mm. The gear (engines) are of very high quality and durable, their high efficiency provides that long operating times until the next charge are possible even though a small battery is used. According to the credo “better is the enemy of good” the engineers of ABM Greiffenberger have thoroughly overworked this series and present the third generation of the bevel gear wheel TDB254.

Demanding requirements

Some of the requirements of the functional specification document included the increase of performance and torque as well as additional increase of the already high efficiency and reliability. The compability towards earlier model versions was necessary, in order to facilitate the transition to the newest generation of propulsion machines by the user. Also, in order to preserve the competiveness of the gear box with improved parts, the production processes were reviewed and optimized. The result of these tasks is a gear that delivers 15 percent more torque in the propulsion system in comparison to the previous version. At the same time a striking decrease of the temperature of the gear was achieved by mainly optimizing the combination of gear levels, the bearing and the gearing-geometry. Also the directed guidance of the oil flow towards the important internal points increases the effectiveness and therefore additionally decreases the temperature.

Thanks to these improvements not only an increased performance level is achieved but also an increased durability as well as an additional reduction of the noise emission. The bevel gear wheel engines of the series TDB254 are delivered as complete, 100 percent tested propulsion system.

Complete propulsion systems

The bevel gear wheel engines of the series TDB254 can be delivered as driving gears with three transmission variants for propulsions with a wheel diameter of 254 mm. The asynchrony-engines deliver between 1,5 and 3,2 Kilowatt. The quality standard of the engines corresponds to that of the gears ¿ this is part of the tradition: ABM Greiffenberger was one of the pioneers of the efficient and low-maintenance rotary current in mobile appliances more than a decade ago. The bevel gear wheel engines can be established in various mobile working vehicles with electronic propulsion. The spectrum overspans forklifts, stackers, order pickers, reach trucks, tugs and transport systems without operators. Apart from the deployment in machines for the handling of material, the new production series TDB254 can be used for cleaning machines and hydraulic lifts.
